Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04

Wallaper homemade, I don't like it much but if you want it I probably have the .png and .xcf.

Bottom left screenlet is the nowplaying lucid-dark that comes with the screenlets package for Ubuntu. System info in the right is a hacked version of the sysmonitor screenlet. I edited the python code and got rid of the time, 'cause I couldn't figure out how to put it in 24 hour mode.

Ask if you want details on anything else.

looks nice... I have no relogious beliefs so I can only say the background color is nice, not the whole wallpaper.

is that conky or a screenlet on the right?

That's a screenlet. I modified the Sysmonitor python script a bit (took out the time). I can publish it, if you or anyone else is interested (spirit of open source).

The text is Galatians 2:20. It's a pretty cool book (written by Paul), though if you were interested in learning about Christianity I'd recommend starting with one of the gospels like John. It really shows a lot about who Jesus said He was.

Thanks for the script offer, but I like too customize my own scripts too, so it's not necessary. :D

I read the Bible (and the Coran - just out of curiosity) and religion is a nice story but I'll stick to SF, seems more plausible imo. No offense meant, I respect other people's beliefs.

It's cool that you read them. I know a lot of people who "don't read the Bible 'cause they already know what's in it." What are your thoughts on it? Like... I mean, what didn't you like about it (the Bible). I'm curious to hear the thoughts of someone who's read both the Bible and the Qur'an, you know? What were your thoughts on Jesus... who He was and what He taught? Just curious. I'm not trying to be pushy or anything.

I like scripting, too. I'm just not very good at it. haha.

I don't want to get into details... I'm not a fan of religious related talks (too much tragedy religion caused already). I didn't like the way it was written, or the fact that it has several inconsistencies (I noted them down on the book when I read it, not good with remembering stuff, especially stuff I don't enjoy very much).

Besides I learned later on that several chapters, gospels and other stuff like that was left out of the Bible on purpose. I don't like the thought that other people impose on me what I am suppose to believe it's the truth (I am totally against the Church as an organization, not against religion).

IMO Jesus was a political figure needed to justify certain actions, and later on became the instrument for controlling the masses, through the Christian religion, probably like every other religion in every other historical era and every other prophet, every other god-sent person depending on the case.

I'm once again sorry if I offend you in any way, but I believe in alternate universes and in superior beings but not in the supernatural. The only thing for which no-one has any concrete proof of happening like they say it did is the actual beginning of everything. Nobody knows where the first piece of energy/matter came from and that's what makes religions come to life. (once again this is my opinion, everyone can believe what they want as long as they don't impose it on others)

By the way, I suck at coding too, but i like tinkering with stuff... don't know if I can actually complete a script from start to finish (maybe a simple C or Java app, or even a 2-3 lines long shell script).

Hi

I hacked this screenlet too.

To get 24 time format use this in the get_variables() method:

self.__dict__['time'] = sensors.cal_get_time24 ()

Worked for me anyway...
